First we discussed the news item of the day: Facebook now allows you to “save” posts in your news feed. If you come across something you like, you can save that content to read it later. You like this idea?
Today’s episode was packed with useful information. First, Kevin is imploring students to skip their career fair. He has worked with various career centers in colleges and is encouraging students to stop going to their career fairs because they just aren’t as useful. Instead, identify something you are passionate about and try to do that for a few months. He shared a great story of one student who followed her passion and ended up working with Netflix!
Next we discussed Kevin’s TEDx speech on getting rid of career fairs. His was well-attended and it correlates with his upcoming book called The Niche Movement: The New Rules to Finding the Career You Love (see his Kickstarter campaign for this). Very much looking forward to reading his book!
His other other passion is using social tools to manage your social media effectiveness. He loves the Buffer App and spoke in great depth and detail about it’s usefulness. This inspired Chris to start using it!
Finally our tip of the week comes from Dino Dogan: How to remove the automatic video playing/previewing feature on Facebook. Click here to see the blog post where Dino shows you how to disable that. Thanks Dino!
