Before launching into the specifics we talked about the news item of the day: Google apparently took $42,000 from a Morocco-based entrepreneur who was making money off his AdSense partnership but somehow Google decided he was violating his terms of service. And for no apparent or public reason his account was shut down and the money was returned to the advertisers.

This episode was full of fantastic information on how to succeed as an entrepreneur. We started the conversation asking about what JuiceTank is and does. In a nutshell, JuiceTank is a large coworking space and community of entrepreneurs in Somerset, NJ, which is very centrally located.

But: if you are just looking for a desk and a place to work, JuiceTank is probably not for you. The whole point of going there is to join a community of forward-thinkers who want to collaborate next to businesses and learn from one another. In addition, unlike how many people perceive these kinds of coworking spaces, you do not have to be a tech or social media startup to have space there. In fact there are many traditional businesses there such as financial advisors. So it is important that you have an entrepreneur and startup mindset more than a specific thing that you do.

Moreover, Charlie told us that JuiceTank offers a wide variety of business incubation services, which means they have a long list of relationships with attorneys, CPAs, banks, consultants and other advisors who offer their services at a discount or for free. This is invaluable when it comes to starting a business because a lot of entrepreneurs are good at what they do but not necessarily at running a business.

Charlie also said that, if you are not in startup mode and you do not have what it takes to be an entrepreneur then don’t do it. You need to be self-motivated and willing to go through a hundred different challenges to come out on top. Our other guest, Ralph Rivera, suggested that you also have to be willing to clean up cat vomit, but that’s another story for another day.

We then talked about Charlie’s favorite social media home, and he said it was LinkedIn and Twitter, but he really, really loves Twitter, much like our co-host Chris and he talked about how he has used social media tools to grow JuiceTank and do all kinds of things that are important to him.

Chris then asked if Charlie, who is in his early 30s, has a credibility problem because he is so young. Apparently he does have some challenges with getting people to take him seriously because he is young (and has great hair.) He also asked if any startups in JuiceTank abuse social media and do it wrong, and not surprisingly he said they are using it wrong for their businesses because their branding is first off. And as David and Charlie agreed, your brand is nothing more than your promise.

Chris also taught us that the plural to “Y’all” is “All Y’all” thanks to his cousin Michelle on Facebook. That has nothing to do with the show, but it is funny.

Finally we wrapped up with a Tip of the Week: David said that every entrepreneur should have an Internet radio show like SM Unscrambled because it makes them a thought-leader in their field and allows them to invite prominent guests while offering something to them for free.

This was an excellent episode (one of David’s favorites) and it was the first time Charlie had ever been on any kind of radio show.  so please have a listen to the whole thing. You will learn a lot.
